With 18 years at Charles River Discovery, I’m a lab scientist and UK Sustainability Champion. Passionate about environmental stewardship inspired by childhood, my scientific focus includes mass spectrometry, automation, antibodies, and enzymes, driving sustainability inside and outside the lab.

Lisa O’Fee, with 20+ years in drug discovery, leads sustainability at the Institute of Cancer Research. She co-leads life cycle assessments, founded the ActNow group, and drives the ‘Sustainable Discoveries’ plan, integrating sustainability into cancer research and procurement.

Dr. FitzGerald, with industrial engineering and biotechnology degrees, leads neuroscience MS research at University of Galway. She coordinates a €3.9M EU training network, led Europe’s first My Green Lab-certified lab, and chairs Ireland’s Green Labs network promoting sustainable labs and climate action.

Enthusiastic quality professional with global pharmaceutical leadership in operations, compliance, and auditing. Experienced project manager driving global transformation, including sustainable labs programs that earned My Green Lab ‘Green’ Certification for three QC labs. Skilled in regulatory and quality management.

Sustainability Lead at ten23 health, formerly Environmental Sustainability Lead at Novartis research. I drive collaborative action and develop tools to accelerate sustainability, with a background in ecotoxicology and a passion for understanding and measuring environmental impact.

Nicole Kho, Director on Gilead’s Corporate Sustainability Team, oversees climate strategy and ESG reporting. With experience in environmental compliance and consulting, she holds degrees in Molecular Biology and Public Health, and serves on Cal Poly SLO’s NRES advisory council.

With 15+ years at PepsiCo R&D, I’ve led lab operations, quality systems, and Europe-wide analytical support. Passionate about sustainability, I developed PepsiCo’s Europe Laboratory Sustainability Strategy and actively drive environmental improvements through operational leadership and green initiatives.

Georgiana, Founder and President of GPL Consulting, has 20+ years in biopharma leading culture change. Since 2019, she’s led communications for a global pharma initiative engaging 1,500 scientists toward My Green Lab Certification. She holds degrees from MIT and Northeastern.

Kathy, with a chemistry doctorate and 15 years’ research experience, founded and leads CU Green Labs at University of Colorado Boulder. She serves on the I2SL board, chairs its University Alliance Group, and leads grants linking efficiency and sustainability in research funding.

Chris has 10+ years in labs, passionate about reducing waste and energy use. Shocked by unsustainable norms early on, Chris now integrates sustainability innovation into R&D, focusing daily on monitoring and eliminating physical and energy waste in lab operations.

Sara Fuentes, Co-Founder and President of Smart Waste Inc., leads zero-waste innovation with 10+ years in waste management. A cleantech advocate and mentor, she champions transparency, circularity, and women’s leadership through roles like Vice-Chair of Women in CleanTech and Sustainability.

Oakley Jennings-Fast, with a Chemical and Biological Engineering degree and BASF experience, is Director of Circular Economy at SmartWaste. She consults on zero waste goals, founded Level Up Planet to educate on circular economy, and co-hosts the Trash Magic! podcast.

Kristin Ferrufino, with a background in pharmaceutical manufacturing and lab management, led sustainable procurement initiatives at UVA. Now a Sourcing Consultant at E&I Cooperative Services, she supports strategic procurement for educational institutions across the U.S. East Coast.

Greg, Senior Program Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific, leads equipment lifecycle solutions enhancing productivity and sustainability. With a background in industrial engineering and entrepreneurship from Penn State, and 12 years in operations, he’s passionate about circularity and sustainable business innovation.

With 30 years in scientific equipment sales, including 15 at Thermo Fisher and 14 at Whatman/GE, I’ve driven business growth through channel management, sales strategy, training, and promotions—earning multiple Master Sales Awards across cold storage, environmental monitoring, and lab equipment.

Amy holds the world’s first Ph.D. in Green Chemistry and co-founded Beyond Benign, promoting green chemistry education. With academic and industry experience, she’s received awards for sustainable research and leads initiatives transforming chemistry education to address environmental challenges.

Jeanette holds a BSc in Chemistry and a PhD from UBC. She researches bio-based materials for environmental remediation, collaborates on commercializing oil spill kits, and leads sustainability initiatives at UBC to reduce waste, water, and energy use.

Samy Ponnusamy, PhD in Polymer Chemistry, is Global Manager for Green Chemistry at MilliporeSigma. Founder of Sigma-Aldrich’s Green Chemistry team, he developed the DOZN green chemistry evaluator and co-chairs the ACS GCI Chemical Manufacturer Roundtable.

After a PhD and Postdoc, I shifted to industrial process chemistry, supporting small molecule therapy commercialization. I’m passionate about how early process changes and lab operations can drive significant sustainability improvements and resource efficiency throughout product development.

With 20+ years in lab equipment, including roles at METROHM and IKA, I’m Senior Product Manager at JULABO, driving sustainable cooling solutions. A chemical engineer passionate about analytics and environmental management, I focus on seizing opportunities to create greener products.

Dan Doyle, chairman of Grumman/Butkus Associates, specializes in energy efficiency for labs, hospitals, and data centers. A founder of the Chicago I2SL chapter, former ASHRAE Illinois Chapter President, and ASHRAE Fellow, he’s a leader in sustainable building design.

Ty, Research Associate at CSU Veterinary Diagnostics Lab, runs COVID qPCR tests, develops molecular diagnostics, and researches viral evolution. Passionate about integrating sustainability in labs, Ty also enjoys teaching, yoga, outdoor time with dogs, and propagating plants.

Barbra Wells, CEO of Priorclave North America, leads efforts to reduce autoclaving’s environmental impact in labs. She holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Michigan and formerly owned an environmental research and compliance firm serving North America.

Jacob Werner, Senior Project Architect at Perkins&Will, specializes in sustainable lab and workplace design. With 20 years’ experience, he’s an academic, researcher, and teacher passionate about resilient, low-carbon labs. Outside work, he enjoys outdoor activities with his family in New England.

Allen, a pioneer in green lab practices since 2005, co-founded LabRATS and Freezer Challenge. With a background in chemical oceanography and biogeochemistry, he now integrates fluid flow and HVAC design at 3Flow to enhance lab performance and reduce carbon impact.

Quentin Gilly, Assistant Director of Sustainability & Energy at Harvard, leads sustainability initiatives focused on lab energy and operations within the Faculty of Arts & Sciences. He holds a master’s in Sustainability and Environmental Management and is a Certified Energy Manager.

Sarah Maher, a chemistry and forensic science lecturer at TU Dublin, collaborates on sustainability projects with EPA and SEAI. A Climate Ambassador awardee, she’s active in Irish Green Labs, EuraChem Ireland, and the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences.

Chase Heibel, Senior Product Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific, has 15+ years in scientific instruments and cold storage. He contributes to national and global healthcare standards and holds a B.S. in Genetics from the University of California, Irvine.

Phil Pipitone, Senior Life Sciences Manager at Energy Solutions, partners with lab equipment suppliers to create utility rebate programs promoting energy-efficient technologies. A former product manager and My Green Lab Ambassador, he advances sustainability through deep expertise in lab equipment and efficiency initiatives.

Kathi Shea, VP of Repository and Innovation at Azenta Life Sciences, has 30+ years of biorepository leadership. A longtime ISBER member and past President, she has shaped industry standards and advised globally on biospecimen quality, design, and preservation best practices.

Robin is a Director at Incendium, leading Net Zero Pathway teams and a centre of excellence. With 17+ years in consultancy and global facilities management, he delivers strategic, impactful sustainability programs and champions collaborative, results-driven approaches to achieving Net Zero goals.

With 23 years at Labconco, Kelly leads product development focused on innovative, sustainable lab equipment. She researches market trends, integrates emerging technologies, and designs products that enhance both lab performance and overall sustainability—driven by a passion for purposeful solutions.




Gabriel Denys is a software engineer, designer, and entrepreneur with a B.Eng. from the University of Limerick. He builds software solutions for Irish businesses and supports enterprise projects, while enjoying cooking, painting, and brainstorming new ideas in his free time.
