Award categories for the Freezer Challenge<\/b><\/h2>\n

While every participating lab is a winner for helping save an incredible amount of energy, <\/span>we are proud to honor the below labs for their significant contribution to the Freezer Challenge.<\/p>\n

kwh\/day savings is not the only determinant of whether a lab or organization receives a top award or honorable mention. Many actions in the Freezer Challenge do not equate to energy savings – normalized points is the first factor looked at, then kwh\/day saved.<\/p>\n

Note: <\/b>Winning Streak Awards are<\/span><\/i> given to previous year’s winners that exceeded their energy savings from last year.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

  • The University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign<\/li>\n
  • The La Jolla, California campus of the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson<\/li>\n
  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign saved an estimated 260,000 kWh\/year, the La Jolla campus of the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson saved an estimated 65,000 kWh\/year, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention saved an estimated 140,000 kWh\/year.<\/p>\n

    Honorable mention goes to Colorado State University and the University of Colorado, Boulder for their outstanding efforts.<\/p>\n

    • The\u00a0Brain Inflammation Group, Luckman Lab, and the SPB Group Labs\u00a0managed by Elena Redondo\u00a0at the University of Manchester<\/li>\n

    • The\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Inorganic and Radiation Analytical Toxicology Branch<\/span>\u00a0from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/li>\n
    • The\u00a0Eye and Vision Biorepository\u00a0at Eversight<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Honorable mention in the individual lab category goes to the Hoekstra Lab from Harvard, the Sabatini Lab from MIT, and the Hoover\/Mathiason Lab from Colorado State University.\u00a0 These labs went above and beyond in their efforts to improve cold storage management and to reduce the environmental impact of their labs.<\/p>\n
