Carlo Battisti
Carlo earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Politecnico of Milan, and has twenty years of experience in construction companies with different roles, seventeen as sustainable innovation manager & consultant. Roles include Innovation Manager for IDM South Tyrol [2009-‘22] and Chair of the COST Action REthinking Sustainability TOwards a Regenerative Economy, RESTORE [2017-‘21]. Since 2019 he has served as President for Living Future Europe. Since 2021 he serves as an Ambassador for My Green Lab’s mission in Europe and has served as Coordinator of the My Green Lab Europe Summits (2022, 2023, 2025, 2026). He supported My Green Lab in the management of the My Green Lab Certification 2.0 update process and is My Green Lab Accredited Professional.
James Connelly
James is a visionary leader who has launched transformative programs and provided effective strategic organizational leadership in multiple sectors, including manufacturing, real estate, tech, and life science. He has consulted with and developed sustainability programs for some of the world’s largest companies and institutions, leveraging his deep knowledge of ESG reporting and strategy. He is passionate about rapidly catalyzing a global transition to Net-Zero, and has been recognized as a Greenbiz 30 under 30 sustainable business leader and a Net Zero Energy Trailblazer.

Oliver Hurrey
Oliver Hurrey is passionate about sustainable procurement and known for driving collaborative action – including the Sustainable Procurement Pledge (as the Lead of the Champions Program & CPO group) and the Scope 3 Peer Group (3,000+ supply chain decarbonisation leaders collaborating globally). With over 20 years of experience bridging sustainability and procurement, he has helped organisations turn ambitious goals into tangible action and progress.
Emmanuelle Maire
Emmanuelle Maire is Head of Unit for Bioeconomy and sustainable materials and Deputy Director for a Competitive Circular economy at the Directorate-general for Environment, European Commission. Her team supports the development of a competitive and sustainable EU bioeconomy through the 2025 EU Bioeconomy strategy. She coordinates the implementation of the actions foreseen in the strategy on scaling up innovation and investment, supporting lead markets, enhancing circularity/sustainability and promoting global action. The unit also promotes sustainable materials through the implementation of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, the Single-use plastics Directive and the Microplastics Pellets Regulation. She supports a strong stakeholders’ involvement through the Circular economy platform. Overall, we contribute to enhancing the EU sustainable prosperity through the promotion of bioeconomy and circular economy solutions, combatting climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution.

Jen Valsler
Jen is a Director of Sustainable Procurement at AstraZeneca where she has responsibility for managing the Scope 3 supply chain decarbonisation strategy in order to support their 2045 Net Zero goal. Jen is driving AZ’s key suppliers and partners to set science-based targets and deliver decarbonisation, and is supporting the procurement function to facilitate effective outcomes-based conversations with those suppliers in relation to all AstraZeneca’s sustainability expectations. Prior to taking this role in 2023, Jen’s career was focused on pharmaceutical R&D procurement which she began in 2007 in a mid-sized pharmaceutical research company, before moving to AstraZeneca in 2015.
Henrik Alfredsson
Henrik Alfredsson is a business development professional at FrostPharma AB with more than 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare sector. He works at the intersection of life sciences and sustainability, focusing on products and measurable solutions to reduce single‑use plastics and Scope 3 emissions across pharma, biotech, and laboratory environments. Henrik helps organizations translate sustainability ambitions into practical, scalable impact through material innovation and data‑driven approaches.
Frank Mols
Frank is a Project Leader at BCG who specializes in Climate and Sustainability in manufacturing, R&D, and supply chains. Over the past few years, he has been supporting the SMI Health Systems Task Force on their ambition to accelerate the delivery of net zero health systems, including via setting supplier expectations and establishing supporting decarbonization solutions.
Lena Thomas
Lena holds a PhD in Biochemistry and has extensive experience working in research laboratories across Germany, Scotland, and Canada. She is a champion of green chemistry and sustainable best practices within lab environments. Before joining My Green Lab, she was a researcher at the Max Planck Institute where she led grassroots initiatives to improve lab sustainability.
Dr. Cristina Alonso Alija
A chemist and Chemical Engineer, holds a PhD from IQS, Barcelona, in organic chemistry, and a postdoc in Colorado, US. She started her international carrer as medicinal chemistry lab leader at Bayer, becoming Global SVP Sustainability, Safety, Health and Environment and Human Rights Officer. Today she is the Director of UNIJES (Jesuit Universities in Spain) Reference Research Center Environment and Ecology, seeking amplifying the impact of the Universities in Sustainability.
David Dunthorne
David Dunthorne is an R&D Scientist with over 8 years’ experience within the chromatography production, applications and R&D teams at Avantor. Recent focuses have been on developing novel chromatographic technologies, including next-generation HPLC/UHPLC stationary phases and column manufacturing methods; solid-core phases; sustainability in chromatography and the development of high throughput sample preparation and LC methods. Dunthorne’s work has recently featured in several peer-reviewed articles and international conferences within the separation science sector, and he is a keen advocate of his group’s sustainability-oriented insights so others may have a positive impact on the greenness of their own labs.
James Dooley
Commercially driven technical leader with end‑to‑end experience selling and delivering energy, utilities, and optimisation projects across pharma, biopharma, FMCG and industrial sectors. Progressed within EM3 since 2019 from Project Engineer to Technical Sales Lead, developing new markets and key accounts while leading multidisciplinary teams to scope, price and execute high‑impact decarbonisation and performance projects. Strong track record in proposal development, stakeholder management and translating complex engineering into clear business value.
Floriane Leseur
Dr. Floriane Leseur is an environmental scientist with a PhD in Molecular Biology and a sustainability consultant in the healthcare and life sciences sector at Arcondis. She supports laboratories in implementing My Green Lab Certification and translating Planetary Boundaries principles into measurable operational change. Her work links laboratory practices to energy, waste, green chemistry, animal research, and novel entities, positioning labs as key actors in advancing planetary, animal, and human health through a One Health framework.
Tim Dillon
Enamoured by the world of nature and science from an early age, I was fortunate enough to grow up in the wilds of rural Ireland. From there to University, where I perused my passion through the study of Biology/Ecology and later Analytical Techniques. After a brief sojourn in the lab, the word of business beckoned and the next chapter in my life found me enjoying the hurly burly of city life in London. Many years later and once again, I find myself drawn to the world of science. Rainin has provided me with the opportunity to combine my passion for science with my love of business and a wrap it all up with the chance to help the scientific community contribute positively to husbanding our natural resources wisely
Dr. Jan-Hendrik Bebermeier
Jan Bebermeier holds a degree in molecular biology. During his PhD in Lübeck, he worked on genome-wide expression studies. Since 2005, he has been working at Eppendorf’s headquarters in Hamburg. In 2018, ultra-low temperature (ULT) freezers sparked his interest in sustainability. He is responsible for sustainability communication across all product groups and oversees the ACT Label at Eppendorf. Over the past two years, he has increasingly focused on the creation and evaluation of product carbon footprints (PCFs).
Dr. Bethany Campbell
Dr. Bethany Campbell is a Lead Product Manager at Veolia where she drives sustainable innovation in labwater solutions. Bethany is spearheading the proactive pursuit of ACT Ecolabels; an initiative aligned with Veolia’s ‘Green Up’ strategy to 2027. Considering water purification’s vital importance in life science laboratories, procuring production systems demands careful, sustainable, and informed decisions. A Chartered Chemist with a PhD in process water treatment, Bethany brings a robust scientific foundation to her data-driven approach to product development and market analysis.
Jim Bratherton
Originally from Sheffield, he studied microbiology at Huddersfield University before focussing on more commercial scientific roles with a Chartered Institute of Marketing diploma from Staffordshire University. In 2015 he joined Fisher Scientific, specialising in environmental sustainability and sustainable portfolio management, launching the Greener Choice and Trusted Sustainability Partner programs. As environmental sustainability has become a business necessity, he supports their customers and suppliers in their decarbonisation journey, helping to build a low carbon economy in the Life Sciences.
Raj Patey
Raj leads the global expansion of the ACT Label, the world’s leading ecolabel for laboratory products. He works closely with manufacturers to drive supply chain transparency and reduce the environmental footprint of scientific research. A passionate advocate for sustainable science, you can find Raj speaking at international industry forums.
