My Green Lab® was founded by neuroscientist Allison Paradise with a clear vision: that scientific research should be conducted in a way that benefits people and the planet.
While working in research laboratories, Allison observed the significant waste and inefficiencies embedded in everyday lab operations. Over time, she recognized that these practices were rarely intentional and instead reflected a culture that did not question long-standing protocols and procedures. She sought to change that culture.
Allison founded My Green Lab to bring attention to the environmental impact of research and to empower scientists to make more sustainable choices in their daily work. Under her leadership, My Green Lab developed programs and standards, including My Green Lab Certification and the ACT Ecolabel, in collaboration with scientists and sustainability leaders. These efforts challenged and inspired the research community to think differently about sustainability in science.
This work helped build a global green labs movement, as My Green Lab grew into an organization supporting laboratories, suppliers, and institutions around the world.
