2025 began with a major milestone: the launch of My Green Lab Certification 2.0, a step-change in the quality, integrity, and value of lab sustainability certification. Powered by a robust, enterprise-grade, and highly scalable software platform, Certification 2.0 represents a fundamental evolution of the program.

The updated certification was developed based on the experience of thousands of laboratories worldwide and informed by extensive input from lab sustainability experts across industry and academia. Key upgrades included a shorter, more user-friendly survey experience and the introduction of an integrated impact estimator. For the first time, participating labs can estimate resource savings and calculate a clear return on investment.

Early results from commercial pilot labs indicate average annual savings of approximately $100,000, while academic labs are seeing savings closer to $20,000 per year—demonstrating that sustainability delivers both environmental and financial value.

In parallel, we launched ACT 2.0, significantly strengthening the way sustainability information is communicated for laboratory products. ACT 2.0 better aligns program requirements with the expectations of pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, and other lab purchasers by presenting complex sustainability data in a clear, easy-to-understand label.

The updated label summarizes product carbon footprint and highlights how manufacturers are approaching their broader corporate sustainability goals, effectively creating an “easy button” for understanding lab product sustainability at a glance.

ACT 2.0 was developed through a rigorous industry-academic collaboration that included life cycle assessment experts, sustainability professionals, lab product manufacturers, researchers, scientists, and procurement specialists. The shared goal was to establish a single, trusted source of third-party-verified sustainability information for lab products—aligned with emerging international regulations, including new EU requirements around green claims.

Together, the Certification 2.0 and ACT 2.0 updates reinforced rigor and data integrity across My Green Lab’s programs. Both platforms now provide real-time carbon, energy, and water savings, enabling labs and organizations to aggregate impact across facilities and supply chains.

This directly addresses one of the most persistent challenges in life sciences: how to consistently measure, report, and reduce environmental impact in laboratories and lab supply chains at scale.

A particularly exciting development for ACT is its evolution into a true single source of truth for sustainable lab products. In 2025, My Green Lab reached 10 channel partners integrating ACT directly into their online purchasing platforms. As a result, scientists and procurement teams can now identify ACT-labeled products at the point of sale and make apples-to-apples sustainability comparisons across equivalent products.

My Green Lab’s reach continued to expand rapidly in 2025. We surpassed 4,500 certified labs worldwide, with active participation spanning 54 countries. Adoption continues to grow across academic, commercial, and government research environments, reinforcing My Green Lab’s role as the global standard for laboratory sustainability.

In 2025, we formally expanded My Green Lab Certification to include clinical and diagnostic laboratories, bringing the same proven tools and frameworks from R&D environments into high-throughput clinical settings.

This expansion was accelerated by the addition of Siemens Healthineers as our first Clinical Lab Accelerator Partner and exclusive partner for Europe. Through this partnership, My Green Lab has already reached more than 60 clinical and diagnostic laboratories, dramatically accelerating uptake in this critical and historically underserved segment of the lab ecosystem.

Our CONVERGE program was formally endorsed by the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative (PSCI), the leading trade association representing major pharmaceutical purchasers and their suppliers.

In addition, Sanofi and Pfizer joined the CONVERGE initiative, leveraging their influence to drive sustainability expectations across contract research and development organizations. This momentum is helping position My Green Lab Certification as a must-have requirement—rather than a nice-to-have—in the outsourced research supply chain.

The refreshed digital experience also intentionally highlights our lighthouse customers and strategic partners whose leadership and willingness to lead by example have helped set the pace for the broader market. This evolution was shaped by, and built for, our global community, serving as both a thank-you for the trust placed in My Green Lab and an open invitation for others to step forward and lead.
