The ACT Ecolabel from My Green Lab is the industry-leading ecolabel for lab products, including consumables, chemicals, and equipment. It provides clear, accurate, fair, and greenwash-free information on the environmental impact of products, based on data verified by independent third-party auditors.<\/p>\n

To ensure the ACT Ecolabel remained relevant and reflective of industry needs, My Green Lab conducted a comprehensive revision and improvement process. This effort brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including academics, small and large manufacturers, distributors, scientists, procurement professionals, and sustainability experts.<\/p>\n

This collaborative, consensus-based approach ensured that the ACT Ecolabel remained practical, accessible, and aligned with global best practices. The updated version continues to support sustainable purchasing and responsible manufacturing through transparent, consistent, and trustworthy information.<\/p>\n

Scott coordinated the industry-wide revision & adoption of the ACT Ecolabel 2.0. \u200bJeff Zeman is the Principal of TrueNorth Collective, a consultancy focused on application of more sustainable design for business performance with life cycle assessment (LCA) as a core competence. \u200bMatthew Yamatin joined Thermo Fisher Scientific in early 2022 as Sustainability Program Director. He is responsible for developing the Company\u2019s environmental sustainability strategy and leads strategic customer engagement related to sustainability. Prior to joining Thermo Fisher, Matthew founded Decoding Sustainability, a sustainability consultancy, where he developed and executed sustainability programs for clients in the biopharmaceutical and educational sectors.<\/p>\n\n <\/sc-rich-text>\n\n \n \t \"Matthew<\/picture>\n \n <\/sc-image>\n\n \n Thermo Fisher Scientific\n <\/sc-rich-text>\n\n \n\n \n \n <\/sc-social-item>\n <\/sc-grid>\n\n \n\n <\/sc-card> \n \n\n \n

Ryan Weeks is the Green Labs Specialist at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. In this role, he oversees JHU\u2019s Green Labs Program, aiming to foster a culture of sustainability in research and teaching labs. He regularly engages with researchers and stakeholders across JHU\u2019s campuses to incorporate best practices into their daily routines to improve resource efficiency and reduce lab waste. <\/p>\n\n <\/sc-rich-text>\n\n \n \t \"Ryan<\/picture>\n \n <\/sc-image>\n\n \n Johns Hopkins University\n <\/sc-rich-text>\n\n \n\n \n \n <\/sc-social-item>\n <\/sc-grid>\n\n \n\n <\/sc-card> \n \n\n \n

Maria Watson is the Director of Sustainability for Solventum. In this role, Maria engages stakeholders at community, facility, division, and executive level to evolve the sustainability landscape. Rachael Relph is the former Chief Sustainability Officer at My Green Lab, where she led efforts to transform laboratory operations through sustainable practices like energy efficiency, waste reduction, and digital innovation. With a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Yale University, she played a key role in advancing the Green Lab Certification program and promoting science-based climate action across the research community. Veronika Huber is the Procurement Manager for Lab Equipment Dia Europe at Roche Germany. In this role, she is responsible for sourcing equipment globally, and she supports implementing initiatives and creating standards to achieve company sustainability targets. \u200bFiona Hogan Bradford is the Sustainable Labs Project Associate for the University of Virginia\u2019s Office for Sustainability. In this role she supports lab sustainability initiatives at every scale \u2013 from research building retrocomissioning projects to behavior change campaigns with sustainability-minded researchers. Jan Bebermeier works as the Global Marketing Manager at Eppendorf SE. His work with\u202fULT freezers led to an increased focus on\u202fsustainability\u202ftopics, and resulted\u202fin his role in overall product sustainability at Eppendorf over\u202fthe\u202flast four\u202fyears. Rebecca Backer is the Vice President of Operations for SMS Collaborative, leading a team of third-party auditors to evaluate manufacturer sustainability claims against the ACT Label Standard.
